Her first works on paper date back to 1970 and she continued working on paper until 1982. This is related to her desire to make works with other materials, more decorative and possible to multiply, such as tapestries and porcelain.
The following year, based on her collages, she produced her first series of 6 lithographs and made a tapestry, two techniques to which she devoted intensively in the following years. She holds a personal exhibition of sculptures and jewelry, in which she includes lithographs, at the Alice Pauli Gallery in Lausanne and at the Gallery of Modern Art in Basel.

Shortly afterward she moved to Caracas for her individual exhibition at the Arte/Contact gallery (1976). The exhibition was made up of sculptural work and lithographic engravings. In the same year she produced the first wood collages on paper. While in 1978 she made collages using colored crepe paper.
The following years she continues with the production and exhibition of her art works, in which she includes works on paper. In 1980 she held a personal exhibition of sculptures, collages and lithographs at the M. Ferrari Gallery, in Brescia, Italy. Lithography is an engraving technique through which writings or drawings are reproduced on paper, previously creating an original on limestone, offering an unlimited amount of possibilities and thus facilitating creative improvisation.
In 1948 Alicia Penalba traveled to France with a scholarship to study lithography techniques at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and although at the beginning of the ’50s she decided to dedicate herself exclusively to sculpture, engraving would be an ally and a companion with whom he will capture on paper the power of his monumental works.
In her works on paper we can see how the penetrating lines permeate the surface in the same way that her unique abstract sculptures, loaded with mystery and beauty, cross the spaces.
